This program will be available in the Summer 2026 term.
The micro credential in AI in Education equips educators with the critical knowledge, practical skills, and ethical grounding necessary to harness artificial intelligence to enhance teaching, learning, and educational design. Tailored for K–12 teachers, higher education faculty, and learning designers, this program cultivates AI fluency, fosters responsible innovation, and supports the integration of adaptive, inclusive, and data-informed technologies into diverse learning environments.
This micro credential consists of two existing courses in our MA in Educational Technology and Learning Design program. Each of these courses already includes elements of AI integration, and both provide opportunities for project-based study. Together, they represent a robust learning opportunity grounded in learning sciences, design approaches, pedagogical strategies and the integration of AI throughout. Each study incorporates practical hands-on activities and small projects which are aligned with emerging industry and professional standards. To further support the connection between the two courses, an introductory module is included in both. This introductory module offers freely available, continually updated AI materials from a choice of sources (including ISTE, IBM Skillsbuild, Google, Microsoft Training and Coursera) that supplement students’ skills development.
This micro credential is stackable to the existing Advanced Graduate Certificate Teaching and Training with Technologies, and both are stackable to the full MA in Educational Technology and Learning Design.
The required courses and suggested sequence are as follows:
