Students who have taken Introduction to Homeland Security or a similar course at a SUNY community college may transfer in and substitute that course for this required course in the microcredential. Faculty review and approval is required before a substitution can be made.
Security Studies majors who complete the microcredential in Terrorism and Counterterrorism will automatically receive the microcredential on their transcript.
Learning Outcomes
- Examine the history of terrorism and the development of U.S. and international counterterrorism institutions, laws and policies.
- Critically analyze underlying social, economic, and political theories on the origins of terrorism as well as different approaches to countering terrorism.
- Evaluate the goals of various terror groups and the effectiveness of international counterterrorism strategies since September 11, 2001.
